Comrade Bashiru Bankole who hails from Abeokuta, Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State was born on 4th day of March, 1968.
He attended Seventh Day Adventist School, Abule-Oja, Akoka, Lagos State between 1974 and 1979 for his elementary education, before proceeding to Gbagada Comprehensive High School, Gbagada, Lagos (Sept. 1979 – 1985) for his secondary education.
After sitting for his West African Examination Council final papers in 1985, he immediately enrolled for practical training in vehicle repair/maintenance at Wabijo Auto Technical Cmpany, then located at Pako Bus-Stop area of Oke-Afa Isolo, Lagos Sate.
In 1986, he sat for Yaba Tech entrance exams, but couldn’t gain admission to the prestigious technical college. Therefore he tarried on at Wabijo Auto Technical Company for four and a half years during which he mastered vehicle repairs and maintenance.
Upon conviction that he could stand on his own, but before his graduation ceremony, his boss took him to a vehicle repairs workshop in Surulere area of Lagos State and was there for 6 months during which time he gained more experience and some cash savings to perform his graduation ceremony which he eventually did in June, 1990.
Upon graduation however, Bashiru Bankole set up a small workshop in front of his mother’s shop at Isolo and was there for about 2 years, before finally establishing Kay Auto Technical Company (1992) at Jaodat Ajala Street, Opposite Kembos College, Isolo, Lagos State and at where he continues to practice since then.
He joined Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Isolo Central Scheme of Isolo Zone in 1993 and was promptly appointed the scheme’s Assistant General Secretary.
All through his membership of the association, he has always been appointed or elected the General Secretary, at the scheme and unit levels until in April 2016 when he was elected Isolo Central Unit’s Chairman for a two-year term (though subject to a second term re-election if he so offers himself for that post).
He was opportune to get admitted into Oando, now OVH Energy Marketing Limited’s (Ten-Week) Training Academy (Season III; August to October, 2016).
He was elected the Class Governor for Batch B Class by other participants that were drawn from Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN) and Non-Practicing Technicians; selected from interested young men and women who applied for the program online and who seriously intended a career in vehicle repairs/maintenance sector.
Interestingly each person was nominated for the election to the office of Class Governor from the 3 segments participating in the program (100 participants to be precise).
Each nominee was allowed to tell his/her mates how he would govern them and all what they should look forward to from him/her to make the session memorable, Bashiru Bankole was unanimously voted for and during the training too, he excelled; prompting the team of NATA News and the officials of Automobiles And Road Safety Initiative to notice his dexterity at speech delivery in English during the session’s graduation ceremony in Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria in January 2017.
It was from that ceremony that he was considered as The Best Technician of the Year 2017 and was duly nominated for the Award after checks were properly conducted on him and he met the organizers criteria for the award and was therefore presented to participants at the Automobiles And Road Safety Initiative Special Awards Nite, held in Lagos on Friday 31st March, 2017.
Comrade Bashiru Bankole is married to Mrs. Oluwabunmi Aina Bankole and the marriage is blessed with four children; 3 females and 1 male.
Comrade Bankole is meticulous, diligent, honest and very humble.
