The technicians need constant training and re-training

Let me start my speech here today with a motivational quote from the legend himself, late Steve Jobs who said and I quote: “If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.”

This philosophy I wholeheartedly embrace and in pursuit of our avowed Objective of: Promotion of Standard Work Ethics among Auto Repair Technicians; to comply with Auto Manufacturers’ Specifications when fixing faults on vehicles; here we are at last; in Ekiti State, Nigeria having taken the gospel to Osun, Edo and Ondo States from Lagos where we started off in July, 2018.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Automobiles And Road Safety Initiative, the Crew of our sister Organisation: NATA News (Nigeria Automotive Care Platforms) I welcome you all to this historic event.

On daily basis now, the features; mechanical as well as electrical components and compositions of vehicles are changing; they are being improved upon.

And how do vehicle repair and maintenance technicians remain relevant in this age of digital all?

The technicians need constant trainings and re-trainings; workshops as well as seminars.

Though, our great association, NATA does not yet have a written Behavioral Ethics for its numerous members across the country, notwithstanding, we need to be up and doing; we just need to embrace best practices while being entrusted with owners’ precious automobiles from which we eke out our daily bread.

Trusting that the invited guest speakers will enrich our brains abundantly today, I won’t want to take much of your time as you are all also looking forward to be empowered from the arrays of valuable gift items already lined-up in this hall for our much publicized Raffle Draw.

But before I conclude, let me use this opportunity to commend the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi for his donation of acres of land on Ikere Road, Ado-Ekiti to be used as Mechanics Village for members of NATA Ekiti State Chapter.

While not intentionally throwing the membership of NATA in Ekiti State into unnecessary conflicts, I do hereby wish to appeal to His Excellency to give NATA members more Mechanics Villages across the 3 Senatorial Zones of the state; if it can’t be on town, City and or village basis; because, I don’t personally see any sense in a technician practicing in places outside Ado-Ekiti to be struggling to own workshops in the state capital, but if more are created, it will definitely go round and it will be most pleasant to all members.

I thank you, Your Excellency!

I thank all our Special Guests of Honour, the Guest Speakers, our Royal Father of the Day, Distinguished Chairman, the FRSC personnel and indeed all participants for coming to add colour to today’s historical event.

God bless you all!
